Posted by Ben Seligman on June 8, 2011 at 4:54 PM

Thank you to all players, parents, and volunteers for making the tournament on Sunday a great success! We owe special thanks to David Mehler for volunteering to run the tournament for us for the third consecutive year and to Impact Silver Spring for their support. A total of about 40 students played in the tournament, and we had a great time at the event. Check out the Montgomery Gazette article about the tournament for more: http://www.gazette.net/article/20110608/NEWS/706089534&template=gazette

Coming on the heels of the Tai Lam Tournament, we will have an Open Play in Silver Plaza this Sunday, 6/12, from 12-2 PM. We also will have our weekly game night tonight in front of the Silver Spring Civic Building, from 7-9 PM. Please join us at these events for a few hours of chess, refreshments, and fun!

Finally, I want to put in a note that I will be moving on from All the Right Moves to begin graduate school later this month. It's been a pleasure teaching and learning so much about chess over the course of this year. Wayne Spon, an experienced chess player and coach, will be in charge going forward. He will be at both the Wednesday and the Sunday event. I'm delighted to leave Montgomery County youth chess in such capable hands.
